Bryn Mawr ED Exterior Wayfinding

Renovations to the Emergency Department, necessitated relocating the department entrance. The facility had served the community since 1893, and we recognized the significant impact this relocation would have on the community. What is more, the change would occur in 28 days.

We proposed a design-build solution, and engaged McCurdy Architectural Fabricators to manufacture the proposed signs. Once the team was in place, we went about strategizing design solutions that were cost effective, and easily accomplished. There would be the obvious modifications to a freestanding sign perpendicular to Bryn Mawr Avenue, and two building signs. More importantly, all signs would require external lighting in order to comply with local ordinance.

We identified the most critical piece of the puzzle was a series of seven Trailblazer signs that would direct patients from the area of the previous entrance to the new entrance on the other side of the campus. These signs were designed with a simple message and painted red to make them stand out from the rest of the program.

The project was successfully completed on time and within budget. The system of trailblazers effectively re-directed EMS and patients to the new entrance.
